Kuznetsky most
One of the oldest streets in Moscow. It appeared in a course of construction of Pushechnyi Dvor in that region at the end of 15th century. The name of the street had been given to it by the bridge across the Neglinnaya river, which was later put into the tube. The name of the bridge itself was connected with blacksmiths (kuznetsy) who used to live there. In 1920th this street was considered to be the centre of foreign trade.

The real heart of Moscow and the whole of Russia. The size of the Red Square is 24 750 m², it is 330 meters long and 75 meters wide. The street was named after the Monastery of the Exaltation of the Honest Life-Giving Cross of the Lord on the Island. It was founded by Ivan the Terrible, but then burned by the troops of Napoleon and was never revived. In 1820 houses for the families of the priests, who served in the Kremlin churches, were built on this place. For some time the street was known as the street of the Comintern, and later as Kalinin street.

These two boulevards are forming a part of the Boulevard Ring. Besides, Tverskoy is the longest and the oldest. It was first mentioned in the "Projekted plan of Moscow of 1775," one of the most revolutionary documents of the capital urban development. At that time it was simply called a boulevard, because it was the only one. The boulevard was one of the favorite places for walks of the nobility. Pushkin liked to walk here with his numerous sweethearts. And it was here, where initially the famous monument to the poet had been installed. Later it was moved to the other side of Tverskaya street.

The first exhibition complex was opened at this territory in 1939. At that time it served only as the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition. During the II World War the exhibits were evacuated. The visitors returned only in 1954. After the merger of VDNKH with a Botanical garden and Ostankino park, the area of our tour reached 520 ha.

When the Moscow Kremlin was being constructed, Neglinnaya river was flowing just at the site of today's location of the Alexandrovsky garden. In 1817- 1819 it was enclosed in a tunnel. In 1812, after the inglorious outcome of Napoleon from Moscow, a huge part of the city was burned, the Emperor Alexander I ordered to lay out a gorgeous garden under the Kremlin wall, which still bears his name. Manezhnaya square is adjacent to the garden.
